Just A Suggestion…

I have never been more ashamed to be an American than I am today.

Family Research Council cofounder George Alan Rekers gets caught with his pants down (metaphorically) while palling around Europe with a Rentboy. Christervatives jump to his defense. It was a setup. He didn’t know the escort was gay. There’s no proof anything inappropriate occurred. He’s being crucified by the Left.

Look, I don’t give a crap if Rekers is gay. More power to him. But a gay Evangelical championing an anti-gay agenda screams of hypocrisy. That’s the problem here. Rekers is the guy who fought against the Boy Scouts allowing homosexuals to join their ranks. He led the fight to prohibit homosexuals from being able to adopt. He was one of the “pray-the-gay-away”-ers.

The very same people who are defending Rekers are attacking the President’s latest Supreme Court nominee, Elena Kagan. Why? Because she’s a lesbian! (Full disclosure: So am I.) And I’m not talking about well-reasoned opposition to anything relevant to her ability to adjudicate. I’m talking about the most vile, despicable, hate-filled vitriol I’ve come across in a hell of a long time.

Kagan excelled at Princeton, Oxford, and Harvard. She clerked for Judge Abner Mikva of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Then she clerked for Justice Thurgood Marshall of the U.S. Supreme Court She was pretty busy working for President Clinton. During his Administration she was an Associate White House Counsel, Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy, and Deputy Director of the Domestic Policy Council. Then, in 2003, she was the first woman to be named Harvard University’s Dean of the Law School. She then became President Obama’s Solicitor General.

Now, if you Tea Klux Klan-ers want to go after Elena Kagan based on her stellar record, go ahead. Good luck. But if all you’ve got is a bunch of homophobic hate-speech, shut the hell up and move to Iran, where according to Ahmadinejad, there are no homosexuals.

The Writing On The Wall

My eyes are red. I have a migraine. I haven’t posted for several days now. What the hell have I been up to?

Reading polls.

Specifically, polls about Arizona’s new show-us-your-papers law. Even though it’s unconstitutional (not my words, but those of several republicans), most Americans approve of the bill. Depending on which poll you look at, anywhere from 53 to 76 percent of Americans give it a thumbs-up. Arizonans support the new law anywhere between 62 to 80 percent.

Look, I’d love to see the issue of illegal immigration be dealt with on a national level. Partisanship has made that impossible, and both sides are at fault. I get the whole States Rights argument as well.

But this law only makes a bad situation worse. For Arizona’s cops, for Arizona’s legal citizens of Latino descent, and for Arizona’s economy. Intolerance has never been more fashionable. Hate is the new Patriotism.

America is a Nation of Laws. A republic governed by We The People. But if this is what the country I love wants to become, it will have to do it without me. Unless cooler heads prevail, and soon, I’ll have no choice but to move to Mexico.

What’s For Dinner?

Carly Fiorina, Sue Lowden, Carrie Prejean, Michelle Malkin, Michele Bachmann, Ann Coulter, and $ister $arah, The Party of No has a message for you: Quit your job and get back in the kitchen. The men who opposed the Lilly Ledbetter Act, the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor, and, of course, Hillary Clinton, must have gotten the idea from a recent episode of The Big Gay Sketch Show, where they spoofed the Real Housewives with their own version: The Real Housewives of Warren Jeffs. Either that, or they miss the good old days when you could pay your doctor with a chicken.

Honestly, Americans want to put these men back in power? Americans love divorced Republicans. Just ask Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, Karl Rove, Mark Sanford, John McCain, and let’s not forget our first Family Values President, Ronald Reagan. Well, at least men like David Vitter and John Ensign really believe in the sanctity of marriage. Or maybe their wives can just cook a mean pot roast…

PUMA. That’s right, Chris over at From the Left had the balls to call ME a PUMA! And why? Get this: For DEFENDING President Obama!

Look, if a lesbian supporter of Barack Obama is a PUMA, I might as well just join the Tea Klux Klan.

No wonder we Democrats are going to get crushed this November.

Here’s another reason we’re going to lose. Are progressives becoming just as stupid as conservatives?

Don’t Tell

President Barack Obama is an intolerant, hateful, bigoted homophobe. This can be empirically proved. Obama picked former Dean of Harvard Law School Elena Kagan to be Solicitor General. She’s on his “short list” of potential nominees to replace retiring Justice John Paul Stevens. When CBS blogged about the possibility of a lesbian being on the Supreme Court, an “unnamed official” from the White House denied Kagan was a lesbian. Case closed.

Only in the America of 2010 would there be such outrage aimed at the Obama Administration over this story. Doesn’t matter that Obama nominated her for Solicitor General. Doesn’t matter that she’s seriously being considered for the Supreme Court. All that matters is playing the same tired, old political baseball.

If someone actually states on the record that Elena Kagan is a lesbian, she cannot possibly win a nomination battle, so the White House can’t come out and say she’s a lesbian. Since the White House can’t say Kagan is a lesbian, the LGBT community is furious at the White House. Does this make any freakin’ sense at all?

Worst President Ever

Please don’t call me an Obamabot. Or a moonbat. Don’t dismiss me as a Kool Aid drinker. I’m an individual capable of independent thought. Yes, I voted for, and still support, Barack Obama. No, I don’t agree with him 100% of the time. What I can’t understand is why I have to defend everything the man says or does to everyone on the Right, as well as on the Left.

The President hosts a nuclear summit for 47 world leaders. The Right? All they care about is that he bowed to Chinese President Hu Jintao. And that the atom-shaped logo somehow proves he’s a Muslim. The Left? They think Obama didn’t go far enough to reduce the nuclear threat.

The President pushes for hospitals to allow Gays to visit their loved ones. The Right? As usual, Obama is overstepping his authority. And of course, fags shouldn’t have any rights in the first place. The Left? They aren’t going to give Obama any credit until America is a perfect utopian society.

Right now, Washington is investigating the banksters who stole billions, got paid off by Bush, and are back, making insane amounts of dirty money. The Right? Well, this is a capitalist nation, so capitalists have the right to screw over whoever they want. Even the slightest bit of regulation means Obama’s a commie. Oh, and this mess, which started to really heat up back in 2005, is all Obama’s fault. The Left? What took ya so long, Barry? Whatever regulations do get passed, Obama’s still just a puppet of big business.

Healthcare, the economy, national security, I could go on and on. Even though the President hasn’t announced his nominee to replace Justice Stevens yet, both sides are already pissed at him.

At this point in his first term, Bush was more popular than Obama is right now.

What the hell does that tell ya…

Step By Step

Anyone remember what the first bill President Obama signed into law? Hint: It was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. Since then, the President has continued to “share the wealth” of freedom to all Americans. This morning, Gay Rights takes another step forward. From AP:

The White House on Thursday released a statement by Obama instructing his Health and Human Services secretary to draft rules requiring hospitals that receive Medicare and Medicaid payments to grant all patients the right to designate people who can visit and consult with them at crucial moments.

The designated visitors should have the same rights that immediate family members now enjoy, Obama’s instructions said. It said Medicare-Medicaid hospitals, which include most of the nation’s facilities, may not deny visitation and consultation privileges on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability.

The Human Rights Campaign, which backs gay rights, called Obama’s decision an “important action” that was inspired in part by a New York Times article about a lesbian couple in Miami. They were kept apart while one lay dying in a hospital despite having an “advanced health care directive” asking for full visitation rights for each other.

Most gay activist groups remain critical of the President for not fulfilling his promises fast enough. Most conservatives still believe his ultra-liberal agenda is destroying the fabric of American society. In other words, no matter what he does, President Obama can’t win…
